KL and Lyle Daly are members of World Chicago serving as citizen diplomats for the International Visitor Leadership Program and have frequently hosted international visitors for dinner in their home. It is through this experience as well as their professional travels; that they have decided to renovate and expand the size of their home to accommodate live-in guests and enable them to comfortably host international students in their Chicago home. The Daly’s will begin accepting students, (two) in January of 2013, each student will have their own newly remodeled/decorated bedroom, including bed, dresser, walk-in closet, desk, internet access and flat screen TV. They will also have the use of two full bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner will be provided as a part of the living arrangement. Travel to downtown Chicago is easily accessible by both train and bus. They are within walking distant of the Metra and CTA Greenline train stations as well as Concordia and Dominican Universities. Additionally, bicycles are provided for students should they desire to use them for transportation. KL, (52) is a self proclaimed Army Brat, having lived throughout the world as a child, and later as a foreign exchange student, studying abroad. Her mother was a native of Karlsruhe, Germany and her oldest two siblings were born in Germany. Throughout her 15-year corporate career she traveled internationally and has now made her home in the Oak Park, Frank Lloyd Historic District with her husband of 13 years, Lyle and their dog, Elby an English Pointer! She is the President of the Illinois Scholarship Association, (state pageant to Miss America) and serves on numerous not-for-profit boards. As an avid gourmet cook, she maintains both an organic rare heirloom vegetable and a culinary herb garden. She is a graduate of the Kelly School of Business, Indiana University. In 2005, KL was presented with the ATHENA Award in recognition of her dedication to educating and developing women leaders. As an advocate of promoting community involvement through servant leadership, KL was named the 2008 Outstanding Community Leader, by Concordia University-Chicago. Lyle, (58) a licensed architect works in downtown Chicago, aka the Loop (commuting by bike/train) for CBRE, serving as the lead on the Aon Account Project Management Practice. He holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan. Lyle has traveled internationally, managing projects in England, France, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Bermuda, Singapore, Turkey, India, Hong Kong and Luxemburg. His presentations and publications on the historical significance of the Chicago World’s Fair-Columbian Exposition 1942 have gained him notoriety as a Chicago historian. He received the prestigious Cabeen Award from the Chicago Coin Club, (CCC) for his outstanding presentation on The Golden Mean and Fibonacci Series. Throughout his entire life, Lyle has been an avid collector of minerals and fossils. In early 2009 he procured a museum grade Canadian Ammonite, (fossilized, hard shell of an extinct mollusk) which has been dated at approximately 71 million years old which he proudly displays in the Daly’s home. KL speaks some German and Spanish and Lyle does speak, read and write in Spanish.
