Chicago homestay, convenient to downtown

Experience the best of Americana here in our quiet, friendly, safe, historic neighborhood. Lots of amenities, terrific locale, great public transport to downtown! Mom (Lori) works in the non-profit sector; Ben is in college and Claire goes to high school. Our family loves internationals and we like to have a house full of young people. We like to learn about other cultures and share our own. We have hosted students from Mexico, France, India, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Korea, Yemen, and many other countries. We like traveling, hanging out with friends, riding bikes, swimming, movies, music, pretty typical stuff. Our home is in the historic Old Portage Park neighborhood of Chicago, the safest neighborhood in the city! There is plenty of public transportation including the Metra train (18 minutes to downtown), the CTA blue line train (35 minutes to downtown), and lots of buses. A short walk takes you to two parks, three swimming pools, tennis courts, the historic Portage Theater, shopping at Sears, and wonderful restaurants. Meals are not included in the homestay, but you can use the kitchen and we will give you a cabinet and space in the fridge to store your food. The living room on the first floor is also open to guests. Most of the rooms have a direct internet connection, but there is also wireless internet. In addition, we have a subscription to NetFlix for “instant play” movies on your laptop. The laundry room is open and a laundry basket will be provided in your room. The cleaning lady will launder your sheets and towels twice a month and tidy up your room. ROOMS Each room includes a desk, a lamp, a bed with linens, a closet and a place to put your books and other items. Ground floor, Yellow Room This bright, sunny room is perfect for a student! It has a big closet, plenty of shelves, a built-in desk, wireless internet and a TV with satellite service. The bathroom is shared by one additional person and includes a bathtub/shower. $800 per month. Ground floor, Blue Room We also have a lovely, large room with two closets, a desk, shelves, and wireless internet.
