Fun, friendly & easygoing family

WELCOME We're a fun, easy going, friendly family of four (My husband, our 18 year old daughter, 14 year old son and myself). Three out of four of us were born in Vancouver and we only speak English at home. We'd love to interact with you and learn about your culture. We have been hosting since 2014 and have met so many wonderful people, love learning about their cultures and teaching them about Canadian culture. We’ve hosted students from Brazil, China, Taiwan, Korea, Switzerland, Japan, India, Ghana, France, Chile, China, Vietnam and Mexico ranging from 10-65 years old! My husband is a great cook! We offer quality meals....not cheap or frozen microwave meals, and/or we don't feed you separate food like some homestay families! We eat dinner together and take time to interact and speak with our students. We treat you like family. ** We can host up to 3 **NON SMOKING** female students (18 years old or older). Sorry there is no exception to gender as we need to follow our homestay agency guidelines ** OUR HOME: Our home is smoke and pet free. The rooms are on the ground level with a large window and are furnished with a twin/single bed, night table, desk, dresser and closet for clothes. A private washroom may be available for an extra cost (otherwise 2 washrooms would be shared amongst 3 students) We have a large backyard and and have a garden where you can help grow some of our food! If you’ve never tried it, I’ll have to drag you out! You may find it calming and relaxing like me! LOCATION: Convenient location and easy transit. It's a 5 minute walk to Sperling skytrain station or 1 minute walk to the bus that takes you to skytrain or SFU/FIC. By Transit: 25 min to downtown, 17 min to Simon Fraser University (SFU) or Fraser International College (FIC), 20 min to British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) & 28 min to Douglas College (New Westminster Campus). There are several malls accessible along the Skytrain/bus Route (Brentwood, Lougheed, Metrotown, Coquitlam Centre & Pacific Centre). Whether you decide to stay with us or not we hope you love our beautiful city as it truly one of the best places in the world! WHAT'S INCLUDED: We offer free high speed wifi access and laundry once a week. Price includes self serve breakfast and dinner with lunch on the weekends (sorry unable to indicate this in my listing). We may be able to offer lunch weekdays for an extra fee. Please inquire. We typically do longer term stays of 6 months or more. We may consider doing short term stays depending on availability, but a cleaning fee may apply. Please inquire. **NOTE: If you are interested in staying with us, please select a 1 week stay and send a message indicating what dates you plan to stay or would like to to book for. Capacity: 1 Rates: 300.00 Weekly / 1200.00 Monthly House Rules: We do not have super strict rules you need to follow. For the most part, we just ask that we have mutual respect for each other. We ask that noise be kept to a minimum after 10pm. ie. no late night showers, phone calls, laundry, etc to respect the shared space and respect others who may be sleeping. Yes, I’ve had homestays think nothing wrong about taking a shower at 2:30am or blow drying their hair at 1:00 am! If this is you, please kindly look for another homestay Please clean up after yourself.
